The Authorship of Luke is claimed to be  by most Bible scholars to be  Luke the Physician and Paul's travelling companion from Acts.  Bible scholars have agreed to this. "For example, a natural reading of these tests suggest the author was a travelling companion of Paul's view as early as AD 130."  Both books Acts and Luke are dedicated to the same person Theophilus. And finally, the contents of the Acts readily follow the story of Jesus presented in Luke all Jesus began to do and teach in Acts both books display the same literary devices."

"The External Evidence of Luke"

1- "The early church understood the author of Luke to be Paul's beloved physician."

"The earliest ref. to  Luke is found in The Muratrian Church later in the 2nd century. Another fragment of papias found in a Amerarian  writer who quoted Luke 10:18."

Finally, no candidate for authorship other than Luke is set forth." (p.311 Q, Charles)

"The Internal Evidence of Luke"

First, "The preface to the book introduction is a sequel. (Acts 1:1) The theory can't be based on assumption.  2nd, Some argue the "we" passages are a travel diary written by someone else."  OJ Homer offers 3 alternative views 1- Many see the "we" passages a s a travel diary."  Many suggest sections are literary devices ." The writer of Acts was with Paul during his first Roman imprisonment. Paul names 6 companions 1- Mark 2- Demas 3- Jesus Jestus 4- Ephuroditus  5- Ephapias 6- Luke." It is possible that Paul mentioned him in one or more of his letters written during this period." The best candidate for authorship is Luke." (p. 30-311 Quarles, Charles)
