"Silent Days, Holy Nights" tells the story of Julia Russell,  a young girl, in 2002,  who steps into the castle of a older man named Henry Lafferty Her life is changed after this meeting. She overhears a secret about him that she is determined  to use for the good.  When Julia meets Mr. Lafferty she realizes that he is hearing impaired. She decides to learn sign language, so she can communicate with him. She wants to be friends with him despite  the barrier of him being hearing impaired. I really liked that about Julia. Her willingness to be friends with someone different from her. She is really a kind person.  The Epilogue, 16 years later,  says Julia went on the attend college, and earn a degree in deaf studies. She is also working on a degree in law. She is still friends with Mr. Lafferty. I am pleased that Ms. Nichols includes a person with a disability in her writing. It is nice to have diversity and inclusion of a character with a disability in Christian Fiction. My

Sacred Holidays Christmas is more than Santa Claus

I recall seeing pictures, movies, and the culture of Christmas, as being about family, friends, and fellowship. I recall gift giving not be of much importance. I recall people being more worried about not being able to spend much time with their loved, ones, and holding on to the memories of family gatherings while there is still time. Back when people actually cared about family. Now, in today's culture the price of a gift matters more and the commercialization of Christmas, for example, Hallmark Channel shows Christmas movies at the end of October, why? It's barely Halloween, and not even Thanksgiving. Why? The commercialization of Christmas.  The real meaning of Christmas is Jesus. He was born in a manger, surrounded by farm animals, to a virgin mother. He came from humble beginnings and today's culture should not forget it. Christmas is about Christ, family, friends, love.
