"The Wedding at Cana
Commentary"
John Chapter 2 verse 1
The week-long opening of Jesus's Ministry is finished and he is likely taking a small break to attend a wedding in Cana. A small village a few miles north of Nazareth in Galilee. "The wedding festivities lasted a week and included a supper. Jesus came with his mother and disciples so the bride and groom may have been close friends." At some point they ran out of wine. The family could have been sued. "They have no more wine, "Jesus was a village carpenter and resourceful. Joseph was older and passed and Mary had learned to depend on Jesus for help." "Jesus reaction is meant with lobe and no disrespect. He didn't want to get involved "Because my hour has not come, yet." The hour refers to the passion and the events at 8:20, Jesus is reluctant to begin the series of events that would cumlate on the cross. He hoped for a brief hiatus to enjoy the wedding with his disciples. A double miracle took place 1st, unclean was made clean and 2 The water was changed into wine."
