"The Rape of Dinah"

InterVarsity Press

I wonder what Dinah thought as Scehem forced himself on her and raped her. He defiled her body and all she could do was lie on the bed and take it. I wonder what this did to her emotionally and psychology and if she could form the words? I doubt it. I wonder what happen after, I wonder what Dinah felt she could do? Would she tell someone? What will others think of her? I wonder if she thought of those things?  I doubt it. I think she was so traumatized she didn't know what to think. After the fact, she told her brothers, they were upset, and they did what men do they fought and conquered, but after all that, What about Dinah? Was she really taken seriously? Did her rape really matter? I will tell that story.  According to dictionary.com Rape is defined as the unlawful sexual intercourse or any other sexual entering of sex organs, or mouth of another person WITHOUT CONSENT OF VICTIM.

If that's the case, then, what happened to Dinah was clearly rape. Genesis 34, verses 1, 24, 26,  "Now that Dinah daughter of Leah, who she had borne with Jacob, went out with women friends to visit and when Scehem saw her he seized her and humbled himself to her." And his soul was drawn to her he loved her and spoke tenderly to her." So, He spoke to his dad and wanted to force Dianh to marry him, He speaks to her father and her brothers and they say no and go on a rampage through the land and destroy the town, burning houses destroying the livestock,  and stores. The brothers ask Scehem to get circumcised and he agrees. But that doesn't make any difference she doesn't marry him.

The views of scripture on marriage and women's roles are 1 Corinthians  says "Women are not in control of their own bodies and are to submit to the husband. The husband is the provider of food, clothing, shelter and sex. Whereas the woman is to do the household chores, and care for the children. The man is to be working and his time in the bedroom is given more precedence than the woman. This is the issue with Dinah's rape, her voice was shoved to the side, she wasn't even mentioned after this account. When will this change?
