"Sermon on The Mount: 

The Beatitudes" 

Matthew Chapter 5 verse 1 

He went up to the Mountain. Then He began to teach them

Matthew Chapter 5 verse 3, 

Blessed are The Poor in Spirit for theirs is the kingdom of God.

4.Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted 

5. Blessed are the humble for they will inherit the earth 

6. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled 

7. Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy 

8. Blessed are The pure in heart They will see God. 

9.  Blessed are The peacemakers for they will see God.

10. Blessed are who are persecuted because of  righteousness for the kingdom of God is theirs

11. You are blessed when they insult you and persecute you and falsely say every kind of evil against you because of Me. 

12. Be glad and rejoice, because your reward in heaven is great.

"Commentary on The Beatitudes" 

1. Blessed are The poor in spirit, "Those who trust God even though their loyalty result in oppression and material disadvantage in contrast, with the wicked who set themselves up against God and persecute his people The emp. is on piety and suffering & on dependence on God not material poverty." 

2. Blessed are those who mourn, 

They are suffering and those whose life is  unhappy and those who suffer for their loyalty to God.

3.Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth, They are those who don't throw their weight around, but rely on God to give them their due." 

Blessed  are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness 

"Their desire is for a relationship of obedience with God. It's  a personal aspiration. ( France, R.T. 

p. 114-115)

5. Blessed are the merciful for they shall see God. 

"Mercy is reciprocal(shared) 

6. Blessed are the pure in heart 

Someone who loves God with all their heart.

7. Blessed are the peacemakers 

The absence of selfish ambition God is the supreme peacemaker."

8. Blessed are those who persecute you, 

"Jesus was persecuted. It's no surprise his followers would be too on his account." 

Reward is with God." 

9. Blessed are those who insult and persecute you on my account The reward will be great in heaven.

Reward is with God."

10. You are the slat of the earth. 

"Salt flavors are used to prevent corruption. Pure salt can't lose its salinity, but impure salt dug from the Dead Sea could gradually become unsalted."

11. You are the Light of The earth

"Light affects its environment by being distinctive.
