2 Kings

Elijah

1. Who was Eljiah?

Most people when they think of Elijah they think of that guy who went up in the really strong wind right? but He was more than that. He was humble and he was serving God doing what he was made for. He didn't have any family and He prayed often, once he prayed for it not ro rain for 3 years and it didn't. He was faithful and loyal. Here is his story.

It all started with a messenger. King Ahab sent a messenger to all the prophets and brought them to Mount Carmel. (1 Kings Chapter 20) This is when Elijah enters the picture, he tells the people of Baal to bring two ox and offer them as a scarfice and see if their god will answer their prayers. Well, their god didn't and but Elijah told them to pray all eveing and see what happens. But nobody paid attention. (1 Kings 18 :22) So, Elijah tells the people he'll build a trough and fill it with water and watch the burnt offering be set on fire by God as a result of the fire the people saw God was real. (1 Kings 18:35-38)

Elijah wasn't done yet, he confronted King Ahab and Jazreel because they killed the Prophets by sword (1 Kings 19:1) and as a result Jazreel sent a messnger and threatned to kill him and he fled in thw wilderness and hid out until an angel came to him and told him to eat and drink and go on his way, to the mountain, sudddenly there was a earthquake and and a soft voice told Elijah to go the the wilderness of Dasmacus and annoit king Hazael (1 Kings 19:1) King Ahab dies.

After King Ahab's death, the people of Moab rebelled and Elijah forced out the two captians and Elijah meets his sucessor Elisha they walk on the the spot. The place where the story gets really good. There was fire between them, suddenly Elijah is taken up in the whirlwind and goes up to heaven. Leaving Elisha stand there crying. Elijah did was he was called to do. (2 Kings 1:1)

Well done faithful servant.
