Spiritual Gifts- Something new I learned about




What does a Spiritual Gift mean? Why are they so important? Are they mentioned in the Bible?

Spiritual Gifts are gifts of grace granted by the Holy Spirit which are designed fr the teaching or improvement of the church.  There are 10 Spiritual Gifts. The first, Teaching- Words of wisdom and knowledge. For example, a pastor or a teacher. second, Faith-extraordinary faith and vision for the future. third, Healing and Miracles- Healing cancer, blindness, deafness, Miracles- Also unexpected events. fourth- Helping- assisting others. fifth, Administrating- Guidance with how one should direct their life.  sixth, Exhortation Pastoral counsel.  seven, Giving Assist. and one's wealth to help others. eight, Mercy- Minister to those that are hurting. nine, Evangelism- Proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to unbelievers. ten, Apostles- Apostleship to those that are called to preach. 

"Five Nuggets about Spiritual Gifts"

1. The gifts are to be exercised  under Jesus control.

2. We should not overestimate our godliness or effectiveness. Christ is the criteria by which all gifts are assigned.

*Since, Jesus is Lord, he can give gifts as he wishes. Nowhere in scripture does it say that Christians only have one gift.
*God gives gifts sovereignty according to his will.  In order to accomplish his purpose.
We must know what God has made us to be not who we are not.

3. The variety of gits and the results come from God.

4. Having differ. Spiritual Gifts doesn't mean we are better or worse than anyone else.
5. Gifts are ascribed to the sovereignty of the Spirit. And they are God's will.

The thesis of this book, is The Spiritual Gifts are for God's purpose and his will.
