"Wheels of Wisdom" Book Review
This devotional is a really good one.
There are six sections divided into 52 lessons. The section that spoke to me is Section 4, Lessons 24 and 25. Lesson 24 Mr. Bishop says "Fear" of the unknown often surpasses the reality of what we will encounter." "Our minds play tricks on us, creating what seems like insurmountable barriers between us and our destination." "Until we decide to move forward fear cannot be unmasked." People who have fears often let the fears run their lives. For example, if a person has a fear of storms, the dark, dogs, cats, they often stop their lives when the fear is happening. Everything is about the fear. The fear is the center of their life and that is the sad part of fear. Until the fear is conquered the person who has the fear is stuck and cannot live a normal life.fear steals our soul. Page 113-114.
Lesson 25 "Worrying" "If you think too much about what might go wrong you'll never get anywhere." "When you dwell on problems you are worrying." And worrying can steal your joy." "Worrying points to an imbalance between fear and faith." "It like paying interest on a debt you don't owe, and it's a costly investment in something that may never happen." "Keeping your concerns in proper perspective will prevent them from ruling your mental and emotional well-being and your life." "There's Someone who would like to ease your burden." He never meant for you to carry it alone." Page 117.
Mr. Bishop is so right. People who worry think about what might go wrong so much that it often stresses them out. It takes over their life when they put the focus of worrying over their family, friends, and work. I can relate. It is like Mr. Bishop read my journal. I have always been someone who worries. I worry about what might go wrong just like Mr. Bishop says in this devotional. I worry and let it consume me. But God does not want me to worry. He wants me to cast my cares on him. Give the fear and worry over to him. He can handle it.
